Should I Put a QR Code on My Resume?
Sometimes. It depends on where that resume is going.
Put a QR code on a printed resume when it opens something useful, like your online resume or portfolio. Leave it off a resume you submit online, where a plain link works better.
When a QR code helps
- On a printed resume you hand out at a career fair.
- On a name tag or business card.
- On a poster, flyer, or conference badge.
- Anywhere the reader is holding paper and their phone.
When to skip it
- On a resume you upload to an application system. A typed link is easier there.
- When it points at something that adds nothing, like a copy of the same page.
- When it takes space you need for actual content.
If you add one
- Put it in a top corner or beside your contact details.
- Keep it at least half an inch square so cameras read it.
- Label it in small text so the reader knows what it opens.
- Scan it yourself after printing.
