The Easiest Ways to Share Your Resume at a Career Fair
Four options that recruiters actually accept, and when to use each one.
At a career fair you can hand over a paper resume, show an Apple Wallet pass with a QR code, show a saved QR image, or send a share link. Most students bring a few paper copies and keep a QR code on their phone for everyone else.
Already have it on your phone?
PDF works best.
Free. No account. PDF works best.
Paper resume
Still useful. Some recruiters write notes on the page, and a few tables collect paper for a follow-up review. Bring a small stack in a folder so the copies stay flat.
TapX Apple Wallet pass
Open Apple Wallet, show your TapX pass, and let the recruiter scan the QR code. Your resume opens on their phone and they can download the PDF. Nothing runs out.
Saved QR image
Save your TapX QR to Photos and add it to Favorites. This works on any phone and shows even without a signal.
Share link
Text, email, or AirDrop your TapX link. Useful when a recruiter would rather receive something they can find later in their inbox.
How the options compare
| Option | Always with you | Can run out | Easy to update |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper resume | Only what you carry | Yes | Reprint needed |
| Apple Wallet pass | Yes, on your iPhone | No | Yes, same QR code |
| Saved QR image | Yes, in Photos | No | Yes, same QR code |
| Share link | Yes, anywhere you can type | No | Yes, same link |
What to do the night before
- Upload your resume to TapX and add the pass to Apple Wallet.
- Save the QR image to Photos as a second copy.
- Print a few paper resumes.
- Test your code with a friend's phone.
- Charge your phone.
Do I still need paper resumes at a career fair?
Bring a few. Some recruiters prefer paper, and a small stack costs you nothing. A digital copy covers everyone else.
How do I give a recruiter my resume without asking for their email?
Show your QR code and let them scan it. Your resume opens on their phone, so neither of you has to type anything.
The setup we'd recommend
Bring a few paper copies as backup, but keep a digital version ready so you never run out.
